**Caution! Spoiler Ahead!!**
Well this is special, it’s the first time I write review for a 2 years ago movie, and I don’t think (not sure) that Malaysia have this movie on the cinema that time. It was released at 21 November 2007. This movie, is really a fantastic and a special one. Thanks to Ice who recommended this movie for me!
The movie is about music. Everybody loves music, if you love music, then you’ll love this movie. I watched this movie through you-know-what. It was the most inspiring movie I’ve ever watched. Let’s just watch the trailer first 😉

Mozart start composing when he was four years old, that’s right, four years old. His first major opera, “Mitridate”, was performed in Milan in 1770 (when he was still only fourteen!).
Well in this movie, it was about a boy, 10 years old boy named Evan Taylor. The first scene of the movie was Evan standing alone at a field, enjoying sunlight, and the wind, and listening, to the natural music by the movement of the grass. Evan, is an orphan. He grew up in an orphanage. He has never learnt music, but he love music very much, more than food. He always thought, that he can heard his parents, through the natural music, he have fate in music and it was like his parents calling him. So one day, he decided to stop waiting at the orphanage, and took off, following the music to find his way home.
Eleven years earlier..
A women named Lyla Novacek who is a Cellist, and a man named Louis Connelly who is the lead singer and guitarist of a band. They met each other at the roof top of a pub in New York, while Louis was listening to the nice Harmonica music from an old man at the park. They fell in love at the first sight and have sex that night. The next day, Lyla have to leave to other country for other performances and so was Louis. So they were separated, Lyla was then pregnant.
Before the baby was borned, she insisted to go back and find Louis and stop performing. But her father disagree and they end up with some disagreement, Lyla was hit by a car and sent to the hospital. She was told that her baby was gone. Lyla continue her life for 10 years as a music teacher. But 10 years after that, while her father was dying, he told her the truth that the baby was alive and he imitate her signature to give him out for adoption.
In the meantime, Louis miss Lyla very much as well and leave the band. Stop playing guitar for 10 years.
Present..
Evan came to New York, and he met another boy named Arthur who was a street performer. Evan admire him playing guitar, he thinks it was beautiful. So he followed him. Then he realized he was taught by a man, they called him ‘Wizards’ (Robin Williams). He was the one who keeping all the orphan kids, taught them instrument, trained them to become a street performers to help him earn money. That night while everyone else were sleeping, Evan was examining the guitar. By morning, he can play a nice rhythm with his special way (slapping the strings). Robin Williams saw money from him, took him and tried to let him perform to earn money. He give him another cooler name, call August Rush.
One day, the place where all the kids was hidden was found out by the police and they wanted to catch them. Evan get away and came to a church because he heard people singing carol. And so, he lived at the church. A black girl who is a singer of the carol roughly taught him about notes of piano and how to read the notes. By the time she came back from school, Evan wrote all the notes on a paper and playing the organ in the church! The priest saw his talent and send him to Juilliard to learn music. Afraid that he’ll be sent back to the orphanage, he told them his fake name which is August Rush.
Six months after that, Lyla decided to do performance again, for her son. Louis at the same time, went back to New York and tried to find Lyla. But he can’t found her, so he went back singing with a band again.
Meanwhile, little Evan was learning really fast, he started to compose his first orchestra piece called August Rhapsody. For the first time ever, Julliard decided to play his piece at the concert in Central Park, and little Evan will be conducting the concert! 10 years old! Compose his first piece and conduct his concert!
His mother Lyla, was going to perform before him. Lyla recognized Evan at once, after she saw him performing on the stage.
His father Louis, who saw Lyla’s name on the banner of the concert, went to the concert too. He found Lyla and both of them were holding hand watching Evan’s performance.
At the end of Evan’s performance, he turn around and saw his parents, standing there watching his performance.
The movie ended with Evan saying “music is all around us, all you have to do is listen”.
I definitely rate this movie 9/10. It was so beautiful, touching and inspiring. 1 mark was taken because there was no thousand people applause for Evan’s performance before the movie end! And there was no three of them hugging together scene! Too bad!
Well this is what I called a nice movie, not some blowing up things and showing visual effects Transformers, no offense, I’ve forgotten half of the scenes just after I walked out from the cinema. This movie is a movie that I’m going remember for a very long time ^^

Finally I must say, it is definitely a must watch movie, introducing – August Rush!!!
